"That's what she said."

(That subject line really doesn't have anything to do with this post, other than it was basically the theme of my weekend in Morton/Ashford.)

What a crazy whirlwind of a weekend. I drove to Ashford on Friday night to tech for the cabaret, which we couldn't start until 9pm because the theatre was booked for a local business owners' meeting until then. With having to run and fix music, adjust lighting, fix lighting cues, figure out where each song was "blocked", etc, we didn't get to bed until 4am. Luckily we didn't need to be back in the theatre until the late afternoon the next day, so everyone had the chance to sleep in. The show went okay Saturday night, but felt very much like a dress rehearsal... because it essentially was. The audience still enjoyed it, thankfully. Some wacky lighting issues during "Taylor, the Latte Boy" actually made the song even funnier because I ended up running back and forth across the stage as one special (spotlight) would go out and another would come up. Sunday's performance was MUCH better musically, but we still had a few tech issues and a smaller audience. Oh well. One elderly lady came up to me after Sunday's show and told me I reminded her of Judy Garland. So I guess that equals success.

Anyway, my gratitude has been stockpiling since I haven't been able to post the last couple of days. Here are some of the things I am/was grateful for this weekend and today:
  • The absolutely gorgeous scenery along Highway 7 to Ashford. I'm a city girl, so I sometimes forget how beautiful my Northwest home is. The sun lit up the mountains, trees, and lakes this weekend, and I felt so lucky to be out in the country to enjoy it. I don't think I could ever live in the country permanently, but it is really beautiful. I felt like I was on summer vacation.
  • Getting to perform with Megan and Travis, who I hadn't seen in a while. They both bring such talent and energy.
  • (I'll second what Kelli said here:) Having a very different, much better opinion of someone now then when I first met them.
  • Nic's mommy, for keeping us fed and housed this weekend. She's super sweet. And she makes one mean lasagna.
  • So many "that's what she said" moments.
  • Megan, for picking up a dvd of our PLU production of Company for me! (And watching it with the cabaret cast + Kim and Kelli this weekend!)
  • My venti iced coffee, for keeping me cool and energized while I packed this afternoon.
  • Metallic pink nail polish, for making my toes cute and summery.
  • Swimsuits. Perfect thing to wear while packing in 92 degree weather.
In other news: I'm thinking of starting a personal blog here and retiring my livejournal. I just feel like I need a fresh start - I started my livejournal my freshman year of college, so it's been an archive of college experiences. I feel like it's sort of time to move on. Plus, A Daily Offering of Gratitude lives here on blogspot, and 90% of the other blogs I follow do too. Thoughts? Would anyone be interested in following said blog?
